Immediate Effects: You may experience some swelling, redness, and bruising immediately after the treatment. These effects are usually temporary and can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Some people may experience more noticeable bruising, while others may have minimal to no bruising.
Swelling: Swelling is a common side effect of dermal filler injections, and it’s usually most pronounced in the first 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. Swelling can make the treated area appear fuller or slightly asymmetrical during this time.
Bruising: Bruising can occur at the injection sites and may last from a few days to up to two weeks. You can try to minimize bruising by avoiding blood-thinning medications or supplements before the treatment and applying ice to the area immediately afterward.
Redness: Some redness at the injection sites is normal and usually subsides within a day or two.
Sensitivity: You may experience increased sensitivity in the treated area, which can include mild discomfort or tenderness. This should improve within a few days.
Resuming Normal Activities: You can typically resume most of your normal activities immediately after the procedure, but it’s advisable to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and alcohol consumption for at least 24 to 48 hours after the treatment.
Makeup: You can usually apply makeup to cover any bruising or redness after the procedure, but it’s essential to follow your injector’s instructions regarding when it’s safe to do so.
Longer-Term Results: The full results of dermal filler treatments may not be visible immediately, as it can take a few days for the product to settle into its final position. The longevity of the results can vary depending on the type of filler used, but they typically last from several months to over a year.
